A True HEPA Air Purifier And A Humidifier

While many people people seeking to resolve their indoor air quality issues know that getting a true HEPA air purifier is the best first step you can take, many do not realize that a humidifier could help as well. Those who do, often don't realize that there are some nice units available that offer both features.  This space saving design allows you to buy and use just one machine to get the benefits of both air purification and humidification.

Sharp KC-860

A HEPA Air Purifier With A Humidifier: The Sharp KC-860

Like Sharp's other purifiers, the heart of this machine is a true HEPA air filter, which is your best line of defense against allergy-causing irritants like dust, dander, and mold. With the added benefit of Sharp's "Plasmacluster" technology, you can ionize the air when needed to add a boost the this purifier's cleaning capabilities.

By ionizing the air, the charged particles are attaching each other which has the benefit of increasing their size. How does this help? The answer is twofold. For one, the fact that the particles are now larger, when they pass through the filters in the purifier, they will be more easily trapped. Secondly, the fact that they are now larger and thus heavier means they are more likely to quickly precipitate out of the air and thus can't be inhaled, which is when they really do their damage.

Now when it comes to reasons why people seek a humidifier, the reasons are varied. For starters, as winter months bring dryer air and we are forced to use are gas home heating systems, the air in our homes is typically significantly dryer than what we are used to during the rest of the year. This can bring about a variety of problems from dry skin, dry nasal cavities, dry itchy eyes, and exacerbated skin conditions like exzema and psoriasis.

Additionally, dehydration is taxing on the body and leaves it running in sub-optimal conditions. Most of you out there seeking to purifier your air have concerns about the many factors that can be negatively affecting your health. This subtle yet all too common occurrence, dehydration, can have a negative effect in the same way that tiny airborne contaminants can. When the air is dry, it forces our body to give up moisture through the skin, effectively dehydrating our bodies if we are not careful. Drinking plenty of water is an obvious strategy and is very important to all around health, but adding a humidifier to your home can really help combat this as well.

It has been shown that bacteria and viruses do not survive, thrive, and spread as easily in environments of optimal humidity. So during the winter months, a tool like this may really help decrease the occurrences of colds and illnesses. This unit comes with an 8.5 pint tank which is large enough so that you won't have to constantly fill it. There is a humidity and air quality sensor on the front panel to keep you informed as to the quality of your air. It features an auto mode and the HEPA air filter is stated to last up to 5 years! The KC-860 HEPA air purifier is definitely a valuable tool in combating your air quality issues during all months of the year. One tool, many benefits! I would surely check this product out if you are in the market.

The air goes straight into the hepa filter before it's ionized. How are you saying that ionizing it makes it bigger for it to be better filtered when going through the filter?

because the ions are charged and attach, create larger molecules in the air. then the air goes back through the purifier and the particles are more easily trapped. most air purifiers circulate all of the air in a given space several times an hour
