Electrolux Spare Parts: How To Be Your Own Handyman

By now I'm sure we all know that taking care of the house can be a pain! I feel like I could spend 5 hours a day and never see the end of it. Now, lets imagine having to do all those same tasks...but with no appliances. Yuck! This dawned on me the other day while I was vacuuming the living room in the middle of the afternoon and I hear this strange rubbing pop noise. I blew my vacuum. Of course I had no idea what had happened. Was it something I did? Did I just break our not so old $350 vacuum?! My goal was to figure out what the problem was before my husband got home.

So I took it upon myself to flip the thing on its side, pull out the clumps of hair and take a look. As I got up in there a bit I noticed this piece of rubber about a half inch wide flapping loose. Huh, I guess somehow I blew a belt. Seems like a reasonable fix right? Right.

My point is that between the vacuums, dishwashers, clothes washers, dryers, microwaves, trash compactors, garbage disposals, fridges, freezers, ovens, air purifiers, water purifiers, fans, humidifiers, and all the other miscellaneous appliances we have in our houses there is certainly some upkeep required.

We tend to find a brand that works for us, is of high quality, and lasts a long time and stick with them. Electrolux happens to be one such brand, but that doesn't mean things don't happen. I honestly believe that some of this stuff is made to break. I mean what kind of business would you be running if the consumer only had to buy one of your products ever. So, what I found as I began researching this one small broken part on my excessively priced vacuum was a whole world of spare parts I had never considered. For almost any appliance in your home, there is a variety of parts that allow you to essential restore it back to new for pennies on the dollar. Perfect. I love being thrifty, feeling thrifty, and nothing was going to give me more satisfaction than to discreetly order this belt, get it in the mail, pop it on my Electrolux and bring it back to life all behind my husbands back.

So the moral of the story? Next time your dishwasher springs a leak, or your dryer stops blowing hot, or your microwave turntable stops spinning, get online and see what you can find out. Why call a technician who is going to up-charge you on the part and then charge $69 an hour to replace it. I think we could all be surprised at just how much we can do on our own if we have the desire, will power, motivation, or whatever it is that may drive you to get something done.  I found my parts on http://electroluxspareparts.com and I'm sure there are similar sites out there for most brands.  It was a cinch to find exactly what I needed
